Feeding Your Skin

The old adage “you are what you eat” applies to the hungry pores of your skin too.   Those lovely microscopic windows that dutifully take in all the cleansing agents, make- up applications and environmental conditions you subject them to on a daily basis become what you feed them.

If you are in the habit of a daily skin regime that requires a chemistry degree and monthly deductions from your piggy bank, it’s time for a paradigm shift.  Overly fussy skin care products full of unpronounceables can actually have the adverse effect - causing clogged pores, thirsty skin and skin eruptions.  If you have acne - at any age - check out our blog entry titled, “Your Skin’s Story.”  If you do not suffer from acne but want to ensure the health and beauty of your skin over your lifetime, keep reading.

The ritual of care that you enjoy from  a collection of “over-the-cosmetic-counter” products does not have to be missed.  You can create the same feeling of luxury and nurture in the comfort of your kitchen - for pennies on the dollar.

Raw Food pioneer Alissa Cohen has touted the anti-bacterial and moisturizing properties of organic coconut oil - the only product in her beauty regime.

Natural beauty author and Real Simple contributor Sue Dolan espouses the benefits of raw honey and fresh cranberries.

I love the simplicity of a weekly oat and rice milk scrub - made to order - and my daily does of E3 Live.  Good for the skin good for the good body.  Their Light Polish is also a wonderful daily scrub and lasts for ages as long as you keep it dry.

If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth - if you can’t imagine enjoying a dessert spoon of your day cream or a shot glass of your toner - it doesn’t belong on your face.

For inspiration check out these natural beauty resources.  Yum!
